It's been an incredible year here at Home Inspo TV. We began production last July and in one short year we're about to embark on one of the biggest partnerships we could have ever hoped for. Memorial Day Weekend is the official kickoff to summer fun and it's the time to honor the brave men and women who keep us free and safe so we can build gorgeous lives. It's not lost on me that in many other countries in the world, a female founder like myself wouldn't be allowed to launch a business. So our veterans, and military need to always be remembered. My cousins, uncle, parents and more have all served. For me it's a time to celebrate them and the communities we've been able to create because of them. So whether it's your town's parade, an outdoor picnic/barbecue, going to the beach,
making a floral center piece or food that represents the American Spirit, do it. Put your phones away, leave your desks and celebrate the red, white and blue so it flourishes. Tacos are very healthy because you can fill them with fresh corn, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, peppers, black beans, cilantro, rice and ground turkey cooked with taco seasoning. You want a gorgeous life but everything is expensive, right? Start small. Make your space look gorgeous with some flowers. Stock up on inexpensive vessels from flea markets and tag sales and then head to your local grocery store. These tulips were just $15.00 for two bunches! We picked vibrant colors to contrast with a matte gold vessel. Flowers are known to boost moods. Make sure to cut them to the height where you want them to hit while in the vessel. Then add floral tape each way on top and push your stems through each opening. Add fresh cold water and a small amount of bleach to make them last longer. #farmfreshflowers #homeinspotv #streaming #home

We have pesky Carpenter Bees congregating on our wood deck. They don't sting but they are annoying particularly when there dozens of them swarming. Also, they can eat through the wood and cause costly repairs. So we found a natural way to repel them. Boil orange, lemon and lime slices in a pot filled with water, simmer for 15-20 minutes and then let it cool so that the citrus oils breathe through. Once cooled fill a spray bottle and treat the area where carpenter bees are congregating. They hate the smell of citrus. #homeinspotv #streaming #carpenterbees #naturalrepellant #home #wood #citrus

Our Home Inspo TV Founder Renee Towell has been working with flowers for 15 years. Learning from @kathyhilton on how to use flowers for entertaining and also working with floral farms promoting them on television and designing floral decor for some NYC hotels. While she prefers flowers sourced directly from farm because they last longer, these stems featured are from the grocery store for 20.00. The vase is from the NYC Flower district which has a variety of vessels to choose from. This one has been in her collection for years. Tips while using flowers from your grocery store: make sure to remove leaves, give them a fresh cut. Hydrangea should be cut on an angle. Her Aunt Elinor taught her that. Measure the flower height you need for the vessel before cutting. Add floral food. We also add a 1/4 tsp of bleach @marthastewart tip. We’re taking a poll- do you buy Bosc pears or Bartlett? This was the debate yesterday between the Home Inspo TV Culinary team. Founder Renee Towell loves Bosc because of their crispness and how they complete a beautiful salad giving it just enough sweetness but not too much. Others argued why the Barlett pear is the winner but they had no data to back it up. So we did a little research. The Barlett is known as America’s favorite pear, and the variety actually comes from Europe. It functions as the standard by which all other pears are measured and is a favorite for fresh eating, canning, and preserves. Mic drop! Our Founder still stands by the Bosc.The Bosc pear, also known as the Kaiser, is a European pear variety with a long neck and gourd-like shape. It has a distinctive flavor and is a favorite for baking, poaching and salads.

Why do we eat St. Joseph’s pastries today? Our Founder Renee Towell worked in an Italian bakery all throughout high school and she learned a lot about preparing pastries. Her Uncle Louie was an Italian baker as well. Zeppole di San Giuseppe, or St. Joseph’s pastries, are Italian pastries made with choux pastry that’s piped, baked or fried, filled with pastry cream, and topped with a cherry. Typically made for the Catholic Feast of San Giuseppe, in honor of Joseph the spouse of the Virgin Mary. However, bakeries sell them all year long. Typically topped with a maraschino cherry but we like chocolate chips or even pistachios on it.
